Pediatric Anesthesia

Pediatric Pain Education for Nurses

The Pediatric Pain Resource Nurse Program (The PPRN) is a new venue for developing a solid knowledge base in pediatric pain management philosophy. The selected topics are derived from the curriculum in pain education as designed by International Association for the Study of Pain. This exciting educational adventure is a nine- month course of lectures, journal clubs and written examinations in pediatric pain principles. CEU credits are awarded.

The PPRN program:

  • links scientific and clinical knowledge to bedside practice
  • serves as a liaison in the patient - medical interface
  • provides collegial "in-residence" expertise for staff nurses

75% attendance and satisfactory completion of examinations are required to received the credential of PPRN.
