Shu-Ming Wang is an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology at Yale University. She has an MS in Biology from Rutgers University and received her MD from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She also completed fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesia at Yale University and at the American College of Acupuncture. She has been a faculty member since 1997.
She is a practicing pediatric anesthesiologist and register acupuncturist. Her research interests focus on the use of acupuncture and related interventions as treatment for various clinical problems during perioperative period. She is also interested in pregnancy related health problem. Dr. Wang is using function magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to study the mechanisms of action of the analgesic effects of acupuncture. She is also a R21 grant recipient from The National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine to study the effect of auricular acupuncture as a treatment for low back pain during pregnancy.
