Pain Management
Pain Management Fellowship
Keun Sam Chung, MD, Director
The ACGME-certified fellowship incorporates one day of in-patient
pain management
and one day of analgesia research at Yale-New Haven Hospital and
three days outpatient and interventional pain management at the
West Haven VA Hospital. The pain fellow is responsible for patient
rounds, and plays an active role in assessment and decision making
for inpatient pain consults. The fellow is responsible for organizing
and presenting lectures/case reports at the weekly Pain Fellowship
Conference as well as participating in morning didactic sessions.
The fellow is strongly encouraged to participate in clinical research
and to pursue scholarly writing. While gaining clinical expertise
by direct patient care and "one on one" interactions with
attending pain specialists, the pain fellow also functions as a
educational and technical resource for residents assigned to the
pain service.
